👋 Hello cycling enthusiasts! 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️

Feeling bored of your daily commute or cycling to neighbouring towns? Then it’s time we set our sights on an international frontier: Poland! 🇵🇱 My friend Elaine and I are planning to cycle to Kostrzyn nad Odrą, Poland on Saturday, June 10th, and would love for some of you to come join us! 🎉

We’re aiming to keep a rough speed of 20 kph 🚀 over a distance of approximately 130 km. Given this distance and pace, city or mountain bikes may not be the optimal choice. However, if you feel fit and ready to keep up, by all means, bring them along! 🌟 We estimate that our total travel time to Poland (including breaks) will probably be less than ten hours.

📍Meet up: East exit of the Treptower park S-Bahn, sharp at 09:00
🍔Lunch pitstop: A restaurant in Buckow, most likely
🍝Dinner pitstop: A restaurant in Kostrzyn nad Odrą, Poland
🚂Return: Around 18:00 to 23:00 on the RB26, depending on how things go
🚲Distance: Approximately 130 km
⏱Speed: About 20 kph while cycling
☔️Weather: If it looks like bad weather, the event will be postponed to a later date
💸Cost: €13.20 for a train ticket, plus meals

What to pack 🎒: Food and water (there will be occasional shops to stop at en route), appropriate attire, and of course, a sense of adventure! We’re planning to break for lunch in Buckow.

Our route includes a stop in the border town of Kostrzyn nad Odrą, Poland for some grub 🍽️. After that, we’ll pedal back across the border to Küstrin-Kietz in Germany to catch the RB26 train back to Ostkreuz. Be aware, though, there’s a tiny but real chance we might encounter a train delay or a train too full for bikes. If this happens, we may have to cycle our way back.

Here’s the route we’re thinking of, which some of us have ridden before:

Just a quick reminder: It’s mandatory to carry a legal ID in Poland, so don’t forget your passport or EU ID card.

Happy pedaling! 🚴‍♂️ We’re looking forward to enjoying this adventure together!
